The 1st International Workshop of the IRIS project, entitled "The Living Rural Heritage of uplands", will be held on 6 and 7 April 2022. The workshop will be the first opportunity to present the project to a wide audience of researchers and interested in the topic, and an opportunity to initiate a first discussion with local stakeholders.
The IRIS project (funded in 2019 by the JPI - Cultural Heritage Protection and Use call in the framework of Horizon2020) aims to study Europe’s rural heritage in its complexity (sites, landscapes, tangible and intangible heritage) and to highlight the active and essential role that communities can play in its conservation and protection.
The meeting will include different modalities (conferences, round tables, field discussions) to expand the potential scientific return through comparison and the involvement of local stakeholders.

Methodological discussions will continue in the field through visits to places and sites with a different heritage and management history. The visits will take place in collaboration with the Carabinieri Forestali del nucleo di Genova (with whom DAFIST and DISTAV are collaborating in the study of Lago degli Abeti), the Consorzio della Quarantina and the Bosco Fontana family communion of the villages of Cerisola, Villa Rocca and Villanoce. |
